REALL Simulation

Program Overview

The Reality Enrichment And Life Lessons (REALL) project is a hands-on simulation designed to challenge youth to think critically about how choices and decisions made in adolescence may have consequences in adulthood.

REALL addresses many of the competencies identified by the Missouri State Board of Education:

  • Identify components and sources of income

  • Analyze how career choice, education, skills, and economic conditions affect income and goal attainment

  • Relate taxes, government transfer payments, and employee benefits to disposable income

  • Explain how financial resources affect the choices people make

The REALL Simulation

During the first part of the simulation, youth are presented with the life of someone who has made reactive choices. Youth are then challenged to "Live the Life" of this personal, including experiencing the consequences of any reactive choices that have been made in their character's life.

Following this first simulation, the youth are then given the life of someone that has made proactive choices. They are then given the same opportunity to "Live the Life" of the new character that they have been given.

After the two sessions have ended, youth are then challenged to compare and contrast the two sessions and draw their own conclusions about choices they make in their own lives.

It is our hope that youth will see potential adult-level consequences for decisions they make today to help in their future lives tomorrow and will make proactive choices.
