Program Overview

NECAC's Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) program is designed to provide families with repairs to their homes that will assist the family with conserving energy and lowering their monthly fuel bill. Weatherization can provide a long-term solution to energy problems within the home. The average fuel cost savings is about 24%. NECAC's Weatherization program serves low­ income families, the elderly and handicap. It assists these families in saving them money on their fuel bills. The work done on the home is at no cost to the applicant. The average savings once weatherization is done is approximately $413/year.

What Types of Homes are Weatherized

The weatherization program applies to all units so no matter what type of home you live in or even if you rent, NECAC can weatherize your home. If you rent, your Landlord must agree to the program guidelines.

Education on how to lower your energy cost with little to no expense is also provided.

What will be Done?

NECAC's Weatherization Crew will come to your house and perform diagnostic tests that will tell them the most effective measures to make your home more energy efficient. Once your initial Energy Audit is completed the measures will be installed. Those measures include but are not limited to; installing insulation in wall space, sub space and attic space. Reducing excess air flow through the home. Sealing and repairing duct work. Tuning and repairing heating systems. Repairing and replacing windows.

How can I apply?

The weatherization program begins with the application process.

Information Needed to complete the proecess:

  • Income for the entire household for the last 6 months.

  • Most recent Utility Bill (Gas & Electric)

  • Copy of your recorded DEED showing that you own the property. (Renters may apply with Landlord cooperation)

  • Photo ID for head of household only.

  • Documentation of Social Security numbers for ALL members of the household.
